Shout out to our amazing wedding vendors!

Now that the wedding is over (woo-hoo!) I wanted to make sure I spread the word about all of the wonderful people we were lucky enough to work with in putting our wedding together. Soon after we got engaged, a few people told me if you find vendors who really get you and know what you're looking for, you shouldn't have to worry about a thing once the day arrives. They were totally right! Everyone we hired took the time to get to know Matt and I and as a result helped us put together a big, fun celebration rather than an "event". Here's the list of everyone who pitched in. Photos soon!

New Camera

I broke down and bought a digital SLR, so far I absolutely love it! Here are some photos I took on a walk around my neighborhood a few months ago.

An Awesome Book of Thanks! from Dallas Clayton on Vimeo.

Dallas Clayton released An Awesome Book 2 years ago and is following it up now with An Awesome Book of Thanks. The illustrations and overall message behind this book are so heartwarming! Highly recommended.

Hayward, WI

Here are some of the photos from our trip up to northern Wisconsin. Fall was a perfect time to go, the plant life and colors were amazing!

You can see more photos from this trip on my Flickr page!

Maira Kalman/What's In Your Toolbox

I love the 'what's in your toolbox' feature on design*sponge, it's so fun to get a glimpse of the creative process of other artists/designers. This week they featured Maira Kalman.

Trip to Quimby's

Last week I walked over to Quimby's, one of my favorite bookstores in the city. Here's what I picked up during this trip:
I'm not sure how I haven't heard of Tove Jansson's work- it is right up my ally! These are the first two in a series and I already can't wait to buy the others. They are wonderfully imaginative and have great little illustrations throughout. I also can't wait to get my hands on this hardcover book:

Fall Produce Share

I was inspired by my friend Sarah who blogged about her produce box subscription from Green Grocer so we signed up a few weeks ago. Below is a photo of our first week's box! Every Tuesday I pick up our produce and get to experiment with fruits and vegetables that I might not ordinarily buy.

100th Post!!

It only took me 2.5 years- sheesh. I'm looking forward to continuing to add to this active archive of my artwork and things that inspire me, hopefully way more frequently then I've been able to up until now.

For now, I'm really excited to finally dig in to this book that I got for Christmas:
I'm hoping it will give me some inspiration for some new projects I'm working on... or prepare me for my new career as a spy:)

A Journey Round My Skull

Similar to Bibliodyssey, this blog has tons of great posts for anyone who is interested in art, illustration, design, history, and books.

I love the abstraction potential of ink as a material, I think I need to play around with the many many many bottles of ink I have in my studio!
